Proudly owned by the Hempel Foundation
Our company is entirely owned by the Hempel Foundation. This ownership structure is unique in the coating industry – and, in fact, in most industries around the world – and it forms a strong part of our heritage and identity.
The Hempel Foundation’s primary purpose is to maintain a solid financial and economic base for the Hempel Group. This ensures we take a long-term perspective on the Group’s development and that we grow our leading position on the global coatings market in a sustainable way. But the Foundation does much more.
Making a difference
The Hempel Foundation’s secondary purpose is philanthropic. It supports good causes around the world, focusing on three main areas: sustaining our planet’s biodiversity, supporting research into sustainable coating technology and empowering children living in poverty to learn through education.
As members of the Hempel family, we take pride in the Foundation’s work. We know that the better we perform, the more dividends are paid – and the more good the Foundation can do.
Being a volunteer
Every year, a group of employees from different parts of the business come together to help out at one of the Foundation’s education projects. For the children at the project – many of whom have never been further than the local village – it’s a magical time. For the employees, it provides an extra perspective on working at Hempel, and can be a life-changing experience.
