Hempel completes full incorporation of Schaepman

On 27 September we completed the full incorporation of Netherlands-based coatings manufacturer Schaepman’s Lakfabrieken B.V.(Schaepman) in the Hempel Group. The company has been re-named “Hempel Industrial B.V”, and all activities continue under the Hempel brand.

Jesper Bødtkjer, Group Vice President, Europe, Commercial Director, Hempel A/S, explains:

“We have been delighted with the integration of Schaepman into the Hempel Group and we have seen some definite synergies created over the past three years. We fully recognise that Schaepman is a long established local brand which is why it has taken us a while to undertake a name change. But now that Schaepman is firmly under the Hempel brand, all our stakeholders will benefit”.

“Hempel is now in a stronger position in Europe and can offer a broader and multifaceted range of coatings within the European markets. We are extremely pleased to see Schaepman transformed into a true Hempel subsidiary!”

In December 2014, we acquired Schaepman as part of our growth strategy. The aspiration was to benefit from Schaepman’s proven expertise in industrial coatings and to open up a global market for Schaepman’s products. The last step in this journey was to officially incorporate the company into the Hempel family enabling it to benefit further from the strength of the Hempel brand.

The centre of expertise and production plant for Hempel Industrial will remain at Schaepman’s original Kampen location in the Netherlands.
