Shih Wei Navigation specializes in ship transportation, shipping agency and ship leasing and trading business. As of the end of 2023, Shih Wei Navigation and its wholly-owned subsidiaries have operated a total of 29 ships of various types, with an average vessel age of about 11 years, representing a shipping company covering large, medium and small diversified general bulk carriers.

Seeking to reduce CO₂ emissions and improve its environmental performance and fuel efficiency through applying high-performance antifouling coatings, Shih Wei Navigation decided to apply Hempaguard on the hull of its Eternity SW bulk carrier as a solution to improve ESG, CII, fuel efficiency, charterer recognition and greenhouse gases after learning that Hempel’s Hempaguard coatings are highly recognized by the charterers.

In addition, for the cargo hold of the Eternity SW bulk carrier, Shih Wei Navigation chose to apply Hempadur Ultra-Strength Fibre 47510 and Hempadur Ultrclean 700 as coating solutions, which are designed to protect cargo hold, provide ship owners and operators with superior corrosion protection and long major repair intervals, as well as application simplicity for shipyards and applicators.

Hempaguard is one of the best antifouling coating on the market, as it can reduce the environmental impact of the coating and deliver excellent fuel economic benefits.

Hempaguard has kept a record of efficiency gains and received high praise from many customers. Based on the positive feedback from charterers, Shih Wei Navigation decided to apply Hempaguard on its bulk carrier Eternity SW.

Hempaguard uses the innovative patented Actiguard antifouling technology, which maintains excellent antifouling performance even when a vessel is idle for long periods of time, thus achieving  ignificant fuel savings. Due to the smooth surface of the coating, it can reach 6% of average fuel savings with reduced CO₂ emissions, which will directly contribute to its CII rating.

Hempadur Ultra-Strength Fibre 47510 and Hempadur Ultraclean 700 are applied for the cargo hold of Eternity SW bulk carrier. The solution meets the VOC regulation for high solids content, it is engineered to withstand the harsh conditions of cargo holds, due to its superior resistance to cargo stains, abrasion, impact, cracking, as well as chemical attack.
