To ensure that the paint performs correctly, the surface to be protected must be properly prepared, and the paint must be properly applied using the right techniques and equipment. And naturally, the choice of the coating system itself is always of key importants. Coordinating these activities and making the right decisions calls for a high level of experience and skill. Hempel has a total of more than 400 highly qualified Coating Advisers worldwide, operating through our extensive network of local and site offices. Most of our Coating Advisers have been trained by Hempel in protective coating technology. Of equal importance, our Coating Advisors also have extensive industry-specific background knowledge so they "speak the same language" as our customers - no matter whether they are shipowners, bridge-builders, or petrochemical operators. Thanks to our ongoing efforts to educate our staff, Hempel has since 1996 certified close to 200 Coating Advisers either as NACE or FROSIO inspectors.

Surprisingly, the cost of inspection is very low in comparison with the cost of the whole project. Even so, the use of the right quality of coatings combined with professional inspection of application during different stages of the project can have a major impact on the project by keeping costs down and extending the useful lifetime of the system.
