We believe that our work should contribute to a better environment.
Therefore, we invest in developing products that help our customers achieve their environmental targets, including reducing their impact on the climate.

All our established factories and a number of other Hempel sites are included in our Quality Management System and are certified according to ISO 9001.

All our established factories and other sites also follow our Environmental Management System. So far, 27 sites including 13 factories are certified to ISO 14001. Our goal is to have all factories ISO 14001 certified by 2020.

As part of our work to continually reduce our emissions and impact on the climate, we monitor energy use at all our production units and take measures to reduce energy consumption whenever possible.

Thanks to these efforts, we have achieved stable energy use per ton of products manufactured over the past five years – despite increasing the amount of automated equipment in our factories.

As a company that handles chemicals, we have an obligation to ensure that our waste is managed appropriately.

We strive to reduce the amount of waste we produce, and our efforts in this area have made us able to steadily reduce the waste output over the past few years.

New European legislation requires the phase-out of lead in paints, which Hempel not only lives up to in Europe, but is also working on implementing around the globe.
